ZANZIBAR LAW SOCIETY is a non-profit organization registered by the Register of Society as per the Societies Act No 6 of 1995 with registration number 89 in the year 1999.
Zanzibar Law Society shall be recognized as a strong forward-thinking organization-providing leadership in defining, through words and deeds, the role of law and lawyers in society. It shall have a growing number of members who play an increasingly important role in the delivery of legal and public services.

OBJECTIVES
- To maintain the honor and dignity of legal profession.
- To promote and protect the observance of rule of law.
- To promote and protect independence of the judiciary and the Bar.
- To promote and protect the administration of justice.
- To represent, protect and assist members of the legal profession in Zanzibar and the public at large.
- To acquire, hold, develop or dispose properties of all kinds whether movable or immovable, and to drive capital or income from members of the society, for all or any of the objects.
- To rise or borrow money for all or any of its objects in any manner and upon any security which may from time to time be determined by the council.
- To invest and deal with moneys of the society in a manner which may from to time to time be determined by the General Assembly
- To abide by and defend the laws and the constitution of the united Republic of Tanzania, and the constitution of Zanzibar and it constitution and in doing so take necessary steps to realize the said duty and obligation.
